“Never focus on temporary crowns.”

Most little girls have hosted several princess tea parties, wore princess dresses (or makeshift a gown out of toilet paper), and rocked the princess crowns. Life was innocent and worry-free – it was dreamy. As we got older, the negative and positive experiences change our perception of the “princess life” – broken hearts, loss of loved ones, failed friendships, financial woes, uncertain career paths, and  finding life’s purpose take a toll on a withering princess. However, what happens is that people continue to dream and hope rather take action to make those dreams come true.

Often we find that we dream of great accomplishments for ourselves and what we would like to do and how we would do it but when we get down to the nitty-gritty,  we find it’s ‘too hard’ and we decide to keep the temporary crown instead of working to get the REAL crown. More dreaming than doing. Why do we allow ourselves to settle for the temporary crowns in life? Settling for a relationship we are not happy in? Settling for a job we don’t enjoy? Settling for the cards you were drawn (but really you’ve drawn them for yourself) in life but use every excuse in the world as to why you’ve had the ‘worst luck’. Well, that’s when you end up with a dull and sparkle-less crown.

So, how do you get THE crown? Stop making excuses and instead of focusing on the temporary, start focusing on what’s real and DEAL with every obstacle that comes ahead of you. All the diamonds and pearls that are on that crown weren’t always shiny and beautiful, they come from the ugliest beginnings. High pressure and heat over long periods of times turns carbon into a diamond. When a grain of sand gets into an oyster it causes an irritation and eventually forms a pearl.  You have to endure the pressure and the irritation to become the beautiful outcome. Now stay dull or sparkle away!
