This past week I attend my first Independent Fashion Blogger Conference at Milk Studios in New York. I hope that those that weren’t able to attend the conference, were able to watch on their live streaming video. IFB did a phenomenal job hosting at a great venue, compiling buzz-worth gift bags and most importantly setting up 5-Star line up of successful bloggers in the industry.
I was most excited to see and meet one of my favorite bloggers, Kat Griffin of the Corporette as panelist. Her background working in Corporate America as a lawyer turned full-time fashion and lifestyle blogger and keeping the balance between the two lives is admirable. I even got the nerve enough to ask her a question during the panel! (Online viewers, did you see it?)

The day was spent with Carla from Haute Cocktail and we engaged ourselves into the panel discussions and devoured into the gift bags, Arizona Teas, Think Thin protein bars, Pop Chips, & more! I met some amazing bloggers like Kendra from Honor You, Margaret from Peach Provocateur, and even saw Kellie from Fatshion Insider!
J Brand, Fashion Traffic, Lyst, LifeMinute.net, and Design Within Reach were all in attendance. I interviewed with LifeMinute.net about my blog, the IFB Conference and of course, New York Fashion Week, which was really fun to just talk about a matter I’m so passionate about. One of the questions asked as “What do you think will never go out of style?” I answered, “Pearls!” I think that pearls are so classic yet are now being designed with a edgy feel by mixing in gold and silver chains. Lucky for me, in my gift bag was an gorgeous “Pearl Jam” necklace from Bauble Bar’s Erickson Beamon’s collaboration. Overall, I’m excited to expanding my blog into different avenues in the fashion and lifestyle industry. Stay tuned!
The only way to see if a ‘trend’ is for you is to try it out! I tried these harem pants for the conference (otherwise known as those “MC Hammer” or Parachute Pants). Surprisingly, there were quite comfortable! Since harem pants usually have a thick waist, I paired it with a slim fit shirt but with puffy sleeves for balance! What do you think of this style? “Too legit to quit?”

There’s more to come from New York Fashion Week!
